Dear Parents, Caregivers and Teachers:
Welcome back! The 2016-2017 Mohegan PTO is looking forward to another successful year!
Our PTO encourages every family and teacher to become a member of our organization. The cost is only $10 per family. As an incentive, we would like to reward the class with the most PTO membership sign ups with a $25 gift certificate towards our Scholastic Book Fair!
It is with the support of our members that we are able to accomplish so much each year. Our PTO is responsible for organizing the Annual Family Picnic, Breakfast with Santa, BINGO and the Ice Cream Social. In the last two years, we’ve added the Sweetheart Dance (for the girls) and the Boys’ Choice event. The PTO also organizes author visits and assemblies. Last year, our students were treated to Cam Jansen author, David Adler, and every student in grades K-4 received an autographed copy of one of his books.
In the spring, the PTO introduced a new fundraiser, the Spring Fling and Silent Auction. Thanks to the support of so many families, this event raised nearly $12,000. As a result, we’ve been able to replace the basketball backboards in the gym with updated motorized backboards. We’ve also purchased additional technology for our school, including another tech cart for the media center and three (3) tech tubs with Chrome books to be used for grade-level small group work. Be on the lookout for more information about this year’s Auction!
There are many opportunities to get involved with the PTO. We are always looking for people to volunteer at events and help chair committees. Please consider joining our organization and helping throughout the school year. More information about becoming a member of the PTO will be sent home separately. We will also have a table with information about the PTO at our annual Family Picnic on Friday, September 16th. Please join us on Tuesday, September 13th at our first PTO meeting at 7:00pm in the Media Center.
