Dear Parents, Caregivers and Teachers:
Welcome back! Another school year is upon us and the Mohegan School PTO is looking forward to another exciting year!
The Mohegan School PTO is a partnership between parents and teachers working together to enhance student learning and enrich the lives of students within our school. It is a place for parents to obtain knowledge and voice their opinions about Mohegan School. PTO membership is open to all families within the school. The PTO is a volunteer organization and the success of all of our programs is due to the dedication of our countless volunteers.
Our PTO encourages every family and teacher to become a member of our organization. The member dues are only $10 per family. As an incentive, we would like to reward the class with the most PTO membership sign ups with a $25 gift certificate towards our Scholastic Book Fair!
It is because of the support of our members that we are able to offer so many exciting events each year. Our PTO is responsible for organizing events such as the Family Picnic, Breakfast with Santa, BINGO, the Sweetheart Dance (for the girls) and the Boys’ Choice event. The PTO also organizes author visits and assemblies through our cultural events committee.
Two years ago, the PTO introduced a new fundraiser, the Spring Fling and Silent Auction. This was organized as a means to raise money for our school while building a sense of comradery among our parents. Last year this event raised over $19,000! All of the money raised goes directly to support our school. Please look out for more information on how to support this year’s Spring Fling!
There are many opportunities to get involved with the PTO. We are always looking for people to volunteer at events and help chair committees. Please consider joining our organization. To learn more about how you can become involved in the PTO, we will have an informational table at our annual Family Picnic on Friday, September 15th. Please join us on Tuesday, October 3rd at our first PTO meeting at 7:00pm in the Media Center.
We look forward to a great year ahead!
